Skin Pigmentation

Skin pigmentation is the darkening of some parts of the skin, causing dark spots to form on previously smooth and radiant skin. It occurs most visibly on the hands and forearms, but also on the face as well.

Why does it happen?

As we grow older, skin pigmentation naturally occurs as a result of constant exposure to the sun’s UV rays, causing the cells in the body that make melanin to become damaged. Sometimes, they are also caused by changes in the body’s hormones.

Hyperpigmentation is an excess production of melanin. Age spots (also known as liver spots) are a common type of this.

What can I do?

Here at EHA, we provide a cosmetic procedure called Discovery PICO that treats these visible pigments on the skin through fragmenting melanin using picosecond lasers. This treatment utilises the second generate of picosecond lasers and resolves skin pigmentation without affecting any of the surrounding tissue.

This procedure will:

  • Remove pigmentation
  • Remove acne scars
  • Rejuvenate the skin
  • Brighten the skin
  • & it can also be used to remove tattoos!
