Glow & Hydrate Skinbooster (Trout DNA)

Polynucleotide (PN) refers to a fragment of DNA that can be used in certain skin treatments under medical supervision. In some formulations, the polynucleotides are extracted from Italian Trout using HPT™ (High Purity Technology). This extraction process aims to produce polynucleotides that are bio-compatible with human DNA.

Polynucleotides have been studied for their potential to support skin repair processes. They may help promote skin cell regeneration, maintain hydration, and improve overall skin texture and elasticity. Such treatments are sometimes used to address signs of skin ageing, sun-related skin changes, or acne-related concerns.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Dr Elias Tam
What is a polynucleotide (PN) skin revitalisation treatment?

This doctor-administered injectable treatment uses purified DNA fragments known as polynucleotides to support the skin’s natural repair and regeneration processes.

The treatment is designed to improve overall skin quality by enhancing hydration, elasticity and smoothness through stimulation of collagen and elastin production.

This treatment may be suitable for individuals who:

  • Wish to improve dull, tired or uneven skin texture.

  • Experience mild skin laxity, fine lines or enlarged pores.

  • Prefer a gradual, regenerative approach to improve skin quality rather than volume enhancement.
Your doctor will assess your skin condition, medical history, and treatment goals before recommending a plan.

A topical numbing cream is usually applied to minimise discomfort.

The polynucleotide solution is then injected in small amounts into targeted skin areas using fine needles.

The session generally takes about 30–45 minutes, depending on the treatment area.

Most patients describe the sensation as mild and tolerable.

Temporary redness, mild swelling, or small bumps at the injection sites may occur immediately after treatment.

These usually subside within 24–48 hours.

Your doctor may recommend avoiding strenuous exercise, saunas and alcohol for one to two days post-treatment.

Initial improvements in skin hydration and texture may be noticed within a few weeks.

A series of 3–4 sessions spaced about 3–4 weeks apart is usually recommended for optimal results.

Maintenance sessions may be suggested every few months depending on individual needs and lifestyle.

As with all medical aesthetic treatments, results vary by person.

When administered by a qualified medical doctor using approved materials, PN treatments are generally well-tolerated.

Common side effects include mild redness, swelling or bruising at the injection sites, which typically resolve within a few days.

Individuals with known fish or seafood allergies should inform their doctor, as polynucleotides are commonly derived from salmon DNA.

Serious complications are rare but will be discussed during consultation.

  • Dermal fillers restore volume or reshape facial contours.

  • Skin boosters mainly improve surface hydration.

  • Polynucleotide treatments act on a deeper level to promote skin repair, collagen stimulation and improved elasticity — focusing on rejuvenation rather than filling or lifting.

Before:

  • Inform your doctor of your medical history, medications, or allergies.

  • Avoid alcohol, aspirin or blood-thinning supplements for a few days prior (if advised).

  • Ensure the skin is free from infection or irritation.

After:

  • Keep the treated area clean and avoid touching or massaging it unnecessarily.

  • Avoid hot baths, saunas, or strenuous exercise for 24–48 hours.

  • Apply sunscreen regularly and avoid harsh exfoliants or active skincare products until advised.

The cost depends on the treatment area, number of sessions and individual skin condition.

Your doctor will provide a personalised quote after consultation.

As this is an elective aesthetic procedure, it is not covered by MediSave or most insurance plans in Singapore.

Choose a clinic that:

  • Has licensed doctors registered with the Singapore Medical Council (SMC).

  • Uses approved medical products in a clean, MOH-licensed setting.

  • Provides a full consultation explaining procedure details, risks, aftercare and costs clearly before treatment.
